I'll dominate 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua stated he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the two fighters came face-to-face to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.
Ex two-time unified title holder Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.
Boxer's Mentality
"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, stated.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to really want to hurt him. That's my goal."
Civil Interaction
In spite of those words, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead attacked former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian turned down a match opportunity.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British rival Tyson Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.
Paul's History
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.
He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.
Financial Attraction
Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, frequently receiving massive earnings.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and stated he would derail the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently under discussion for two years from now.
"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.
Physical Disparity
As both boxers participated in the customary confrontation, with their size difference evident, it emphasized just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really happening.
